The words people use tend to vary a great deal depending on your acquaintances and the local culture. Many people would use the same word, for the same simple reason. Because the word fits.

No, I’m not trying to hide behind anything. You’re stuck in your narrow world view where everyone who doesn’t cite your expected manifesto must be a bad person. It taints how you see everything. Hopefully you grow out of that.

Really? Where are you from, upstate New York? Because I’m from Albany and I’ve never heard anybody refer to hamburgers as “steamed hams.”
