Instead, we’re all under investigation by the authorities for pre-crime indefinitely.

Tell them this:
“If I put a mask, I can still just as equally steal, rape or kill you, no cameras or police actually protect you from that, even in Anarchy (from which we all come), there was decency, common sense and some order)”

They can track every single move, even with a mask on
surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 5 hours ago
Is that how they caught all the people tearing down the cameras ? Because they haven’t.
RFKJrsBrainworm@sh.itjust.works 7 hours ago
So they say, therefore sneak up behind one whilst doing a funny, but not identifying walk

I see that sentiment, with zero sarcasm, all over Nextdoor.
How the heck did local neighborhood social media become full of paranoid morons?

People, generally, are paranoid morons. Calmly processing the facts and assessing risk are the rare exception. Even people who are good at that kind of thing are just justifying their irrational decisions after the fact.
The solution isn’t to fact-check them about Flock having no inpact on their safety. The solution is to fear-monger even harder about cameras seeing into their houses, and a private company selling their data to telemarketers.
