Comment on Fired Rockstar devs don’t want you to boycott GTA 6 but ask for support - Dexerto
boonhet@sopuli.xyz 6 hours agoThe average for recent games is somewhat driven up by RDR taking 14 years (literally multiple years after RDR2).
But GTA is their bread and butter, the old reliable. RDR was the second Red Dead game, but the first one was fairly unknown. It was also created by R* San Diego which didn’t really do PC ports of its games anymore, they also didn’t port Midnight Club 3 or LA. So I’m fairly sure they (San Diego) didn’t plan a PC port at all. But then it was fairly successful and RDR2 even more so and they (R* corporate, not San Diego) had another company port it to Windows.
Moral of the story, this is exactly why averages are misleading compared to median

Thanks for the detail. You’re spot on that the PC port is definitely more of a priority on their successful titles. What I would give for MC:LA on PC.

I don’t exactly come from money so growing up I had a crappy PC, no consoles. Playing MC:LA was literally a dream for me when it came out, but never did I actually get around to it since once I could afford a console, I didn’t really want one too badly. Now I’ve got Forza Horizon if I want to hoon around in beautiful looking cars I can mod. Though I haven’t even gotten 6 yet.

MC:LA is a mixed bag. If you enjoyed 3 and wanted more of that, it delivers on that dream. It also just had a very enjoyable and challenging story progression. Not all the gameplay compares to modern games though and there are some nice-to-haves that just weren’t the standard yet, so don’t expect a completely smooth experience.
I should get around to booting it up on an emulator. It might be up to it these days.
