Much more important to note that the claims of plagiarism against a black autistic man were brought by the American self-declared “race realist” Nathan Cofnas who doesn’t believe that black men and women are intelligent enough to hold academic positions and on merit would “disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment”. Cofnas targeted Arday because he knew Arday was a vulnerable man.

Not to mention anyone with a large breadth of work can be accused of plagiarism at some level, especially in a bad faith argument. There’s a bit of nuance required to catch plagiarism outside of a direct copy/paste so an active witch hunt should be an immediate disqualifier. Shame on all of the outlets promoting that hogwash story

Agreed.
I think a lot of people don’t realise that academic texts, especially in the humanities, are sometimes 90% quotes of someone else work. It’s easy to paraphrase someone a bit too close for comfort, and cite the previous work insufficiently or improperly.
This being said, even if this poor guy did plagiarise blatantly, hardly a national news story. Something that could have been dealt with internally and reported on when it was resolved. Quite obviously a racist right wing witch hunt.

From what I understand, he didn’t.
