Most of the time the first charges are test charges. The card numbers that aren’t canceled after the test charges are often aggregated and sold.

I had my work card skimmed somehow and they only used it to buy $80 worth of McDonalds in two orders and all I could think was what a waste of an opportunity. You could have got anything and you instead bought shitty food that was no doubt delivered cold.
