Reminds me of the Star Craft board game. It’s super awesome but also pretty complex and in that complexity really managed to capture what it’s like to play the video game.
It takes a long time to complete and on top of that we always have to re-learn it which leads to us playing it less which of course exacerbates the problem.

I believe it is the same game that was reimplemented to 40k instead and changed name to Forbidden Stars. Pretty cool game and above what average casuals play.
The boardgame market is huge and more people should try more games. There really is something for everyone, any number of players and time frame.

I love board games but can’t ever find people to play with. Trying to get my kid into it but the attention span isn’t there yet.

I have a 4 year old and yeah, the attention span is not great. Looked up the German “boardgame of the year for kids”, found and bought Cascadia Junior so I would have something to play with him and it has been great. Easy match 3 with animals and nature.
I played around 200+ sessions a year back in the day but since I moved a couple of years ago I have had the same problem with finding people. Got better opportunities now again to play more boardgames. I just have to engage myself a bit more to get started.
