Social media treats Asian racism as highly offensive. All because a restaurant puts a sign that says they can’t come in.
The US has racism where they threaten your life. They pull out guns, call police, chase you out. Sundown towns still exist. I would rather have a sign than told “We don’t serve your kind” any day.

Yes, but two things cant hold importance in a human brain at the same time. Too many conceptions of racism boils a person’s brain into a mush where basically nothing is racist because someone is always racist to someone else. This is one of the things that killed BLM. All lives matter, stop asian hate, anti-islamaphobia, etc… It’s not to say those arent also problems, it’s to say those groups have better support systems than black folk in the US. The issue of anti-black racism requires concentrated effort, but the white majority easily loses interest when there’s another sexier group being persecuted to attend to.

Lol, to be more specific then, human brains have trouble holding abstract ideas to levels of importance alongside eachother. Your children are safe from this.

i think SC treats them as one homogenous ethnic group, almost always Chinese is the default. plus other Poc also treat asians more harshely than they do whites. mostly because white people in movies/and shows still perpetuate asians as a token.

As an Asian person, if you think that’s the extent of ethnic bigotry in East Asia then you have some history to read up on.
It’s offensive because it hearkens back to recent history of extreme levels of ethnic conflict that include cultural genocide, industrialized rape, mass murders, and slavery.
Your mistake is that you have assumed that sign is meant to exclude westerners, when the west only makes up a small minority of tourism in Japan. Just South Korea and China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan) make up 75% of tourism in Japan. Both of those ethnic groups were victims to some of the worst war crimes in living memory at the hands of Imperial Japan.

Yes… But bad things happening here and now does not mitigate the crimes of the past that happened elsewhere. Both should be examples of things that we should be critical of. Being critical of one does not affect your ability to be critical of another, in fact they should serve as supporting examples of why all those behaviors are evil.
Saying one is an overreaction is ignoring the history of Japanese oppression even if that wasn’t your intention. A better route would be to claim that racism in America is not as well discussed as it should be.
