She is a complete narcissist in this movie. Has zero heroic attributes, has no kindness, competely self obsessed.
I don’t think you understand what a narcissist is. And in the story, in literally every story about Supergirl, her family, her friends, everyone she ever knew, died horribly in front of her and she ends up surviving. There is such a thing as survivors guilt and it is pretty brutal.
But hey, feel free to be pissed that it isn’t a clone of the Superman movie but with a girl.

There’s no way to have watched the movie and completely missed that her love for her dog is driving everything she does.

Yep. That’s the point. She is just a person who lost her parents and home, and is trying to make sense of her life.
