I believe the Chinese do have a form of democracy on local levels. They do believe in a form of democracy due to it being part of one of their twelve core socialist values (the second iirc).
Calling the Chinese “evil” for not following western democracy is borderline white supremacy. We have no reason or motivation to justify ordering them to adopt such a practice. I support the system we have in the UK for the most part, but it works for the UK. What China has right now works for China. I only care that the good people of China are in good health and well looked after, which definitely seems to be the case. My only concern is that children are prohibited from publicly participating in Christian worship, but at least for adults there is a satisfactory level of religious freedom. I believe it was Bishop K. H. Ting who wrote that the “revolutionaries” (sic) didn’t do so out of malice, but a misunderstanding of the Christian faith, which is understandable due to China’s history.
