Plenty of people in cities know exactly what life is like in those rural “communities”.
I question this. I grew up in a rural area, moved to the city for a few years, and moved back to one of the “larger” towns in a rural area.
Usually while talking about my childhood with my friends in the city, they would seem surprised by some of it. Yeah, they knew the basics, as I did about the city, but actually living somewhere is a lot different than what media portrays.

The only reason I’d even move to a rural area is to start a hippie commune. Even then I’d rather do an urban commute with a rural component I’d visit part time
