Maybe don’t specialize in internal combustion engines, but… EVs still need repairs even if their predicted lifespan is significantly shorter. Won’t need head gasket replacements, but brakes are still brakes, struts are still struts. I suspect if you specialize in high voltage systems, you’ll still have a good career ahead of you as a mechanic.
The issue is the customers are morons, the bosses are morons, the dealerships are morons, working under warranty pays bloody half the usual hours, and no matter what happens to a car after it leaves the shop, you will be blamed.
I don’t know a single goddamn mechanic that enjoys their job and doesn’t work for a really reputable shop. Chances are you will work in a shithole.

Lack of work is not the issue.
