Doki Doki Literature Club. I didn’t know it was free to play, so I ended up spoiling myself on the plot before finally playing it. Still got caught off guard.

To me it’s a case study in good presentation value and cinematic timing. I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen, and still when it did it was deeply affecting.
Harkens back to old Shakespeare methods; where you would have the core story of the play told to you ahead of time and it was still a thrill to watch.
