I don’t have ADHD, but I can tell you that most people with the condition aren’t constantly daydreaming. They can watch a film.
In order to watch a film, you have to actually pay attention.
I don’t know if it was the intent, but this gives me bad vibes. You are implying that they are rude because they have ADHD.

I didn’t say they were ‘rude.’ Them not paying attention to a movie does not affect anyone else. I’m not saying that’s ‘rude.’ I’m saying not paying full attention to a movie, a play, a show, or whatever is a waste of time and no way to watch a film.
Still, your point is that those with ADHD simply cannot watch a film because “they can’t pay attention” and that it is a “waste of time” for them doesn’t feel right to me.
As somebody who happens to be neurodivergent as well (ASD), I’ve heard my fair share of similar comments used in a negative connotation.

Because a film or television show, regardless of the quality, is to be experienced with full focus. You aren’t supposed to wander off or daydream when watching something. You are supposed to take in the characters, dialogue, cinematography, animation, etc., take in the story, and follow it. Escape into that world, not focus on anything else. That’s how you watch something.
Adhd is, for many of us, a disability. That means we aren’t able to do things the same way that people without disabilities can. You may as well say that deaf or blind people shouldn’t enjoy movies either, because they are unable to enjoy the cinematography or audio like “you’re supposed to”

You keep emphasising on how you are “supposed” to watch a film, again you are speaking as if people with ADHD aren’t doing what they are “supposed” to do.
That’s simply not true. You don’t HAVE to sit down and stop everything to enjoy a movie or film.
Grandma knitted through everything and still enjoyed it. So it dodn’t have to be seen. The same goes for vision impaired. The same goes for washing the dishes or any task on auto pilot.
I’m also sure the Spanish soap opera where a breakup scene goes for 5 episodes can be walked in and out of without someone coming back in and going “oh damn I’m so lost what’s happening.” Later seasons of Walking Dead are much the same. So is Big Bang Theory.
What about music? Must an album be listened to in full without doing anything? A radio song played out before turning off the car.
I digress. People can enjoy things in a different way to you my dude.
If you have a nuro spicy friend that won’t sit still and watch a movie from start to end with you maybe find something else to do.
But it feels like your not REALLY asking a question here and accepting answer’s. You just want to stand on a soapbox and say “THIS IS HOW I ENJOY AN ACTIVITY AND THINK IT IS DONE. YOU MUST DO IT LIKE ME”.
I enjoy movies most when your moms is giving me top in the back of the theatre. To each their own, fella.
Well that’s exactly why I don’t watch a lot of movies. If it isn’t the most interesting thing I’ve ever seen, then I’m not going to be able to pay attention to it no matter how hard I try.
Unfortunately that applies to EVERYTHING in an ADHD person’s life. Chores are boring, which is why we’re messy. Our brains treat boring tasks as a sentence worse than prison time. Really makes it difficult to hold down a job, and can lead to ADHD people using various drugs to artificially give themselves the dopamine they need to be functional adults. Neurotypical brains have plenty of it, which is why they’re able to get shit down without any sort of chemical influence. Dopamine is the motivator, and the ADHD brain is constantly starved of it.

Yeah, having ADHD isn’t always about paying attention, sometimes it is about distraction which is completely different than paying attention.
