This absolutely CAN be done, and again, MS and Sony built the infrastructure to support it. Steam could as well.

Again, you NEVER owned the game, period. Every single game you have ever purchased (even cartridge ones) came with an EULA explicitly stating that the game itself was licensed, not sold, that the studio/publisher had no legal duty to provide access for any specific period of time. You can go look at the games on your shelf RIGHT NOW and confirm this.

The only way I can see this working is if they let you trade games to other players in a public like marketplace not where they offer to give you $2 back when you revoke the license back to them like Xbox was trying to do.

Do you have any source for this claim? Because I worked with the products during this timeframe and this is contrary to my understanding and every piece of NDA’d documentation I read.
