For me it’s the stress induced appetite loss. Got diet counseling at my well visit but Even the doc had to admit that my bmi staying >18 is more important than veggies. I’ll absolutely murder some well seasoned veggies on a good day but some days I eat like 10 zebra cakes but nothing else because they’re the only thing that spark my appetite enough to actually put in my mouth.
As a side note, I think the fitness peeps are right that ultimately weight loss / gain is Calories-In/Calories-Out but the part they’re ignoring is stress-related appetite changes. When my body is stressed my appetite just drops. It’s not a conscious control thing like with an eating disorder I just get nauseous all the time and everything starts tasting like sand. I’m like one of those kids with cancer where the nurses just let them eat cake and ice cream and milkshakes all the time because it’s the only way to keep calories going in. It doesn’t make the weight loss healthy at all, in fact it’s way more immediately dangerous than being overweight. Being overweight will kill you over the course of about a decade. If I accidentally drop 40lb again I could die this year.
