SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 3 weeks agoYes, but depending on what you buy. If you stay regional, seasonal and somewhat on the boring side, veggies are incredibly cheap. Get a sack of potatoes, onions and carrots and you have a lot you can work with for relatively cheap.

Not really. I can walk in 85% of the grocery stores in the US and there is a ton of non regional shit for dirt cheap.
People are just lazy and/or tired and overworked.

Yes, I think regional has a different meaning in our time. I meant from roughly the continent I’m currently at.
But even that isn’t necessarily true. I guess I just want to buy regional because I don’t want my vegetables to have traveled further than me just for nothing.
