I always think they’re gone, but every time there’s a community pixel art thing like /r/place, there are always tons of ponys, so I guess they’re still around somewhere.

What the fuck did they call these guys? Ponyboys or some shit? I guess they got subsumed into the general furry community. Ain’t heard about that particular quirk in some time.
