It’s weird that the article has downvotes.
Ultimately, it’s a fight for consumer rights, it’s one I support, but it needs good arguments behind it. The industry needs reasons to see “What you are doing is a bad idea”. Failing that, government legislation needs to see arguments “What this industry is doing is a bad idea.”
But the fastest way to kill your chance of winning those arguments? Show you don’t care about facts. This article is raw numbers. It’s a dim reality to work with. It doesn’t mean to shut up, but it does mean to think about the strategy, and that it will likely move beyond the “Vote with your wallet” effort.
Complaining on social media about things usually only worked because it affected sales. But Sony has seen evidence now that there are more people complaining than were ever buying discs. The complaints, absent sales, aren’t compelling to them.

Is tis why they removed access to movies people already paid for? Because consumers wanted to be robbed?
You are accepting these numbers as fact, not questioning the source. A corporation that has cried wolf thousands of times is not corporation to trust.

Both of those are excellent arguments to add onto this, to convince undecideds. Though, I don’t think the second one actually demonstrates any lies in the article; just adds new context to the claim, which makes a lot of sense when you think about the dearth of high-profile AAA singleplayer games lately (the kind that would likely sell on discs).
Much as Sony is the opposition, you need to have a very good basis for claiming them to be liars, or you can’t pull non-gamers on board the movement. It’s much easier for people to mislead through skewed views of facts.

What makes YOURS facts? What makes an Insomniac leaker a 100% reliable, fully undeniable fact?
Take a step back. Your goal here is not winning an internet argument. Your goal is getting Sony, or the US Government, to change its tact. I’m only playing devil’s advocate here to get people to practice their arguments. Good thing, because you’re failing yours. Stating, with no evidence, that the opposition’s claims are fake news makes you VERY easy to dismiss in a courtroom or judicial hearing.
You could, absolutely be right that this analyst is lying. But nothing I saw in that link would convince a layperson. I’d still recommend proceeding under the polite assumption it’s true, until you have something showing a total dismissal of that person’s credibility.
And remember: Sony gets more detailed versions of these reports, not the bite-sized headlines. It’s doubtful they’re basing their internal business decisions on lies, which is why I default to assuming their raw numbers are, unfortunately, true.
