Short answer, people are stupid assholes.

Long answer, because nuance is a skill that you have to learn, and we live in a society that doesn’t value it and basically hates it. Nuance has no place in 15 second video clips, that THE dominant form of media consumption for younger people.

The only place I find nuace is in long-form media. But most folks don’t consume it anymore, so it’s not a part of their life anymore.
