Compared with other nonsense he’s said, it lends itself to very clear visual jokes which can be shared easily. Also, it’s not like the other nonsense isn’t made a big deal out of for a day or two at least, this one is just the freshest. Covfefe is still around.

Ridiculing it is fine. Going “How can you confuse Iran and Japan” or treating it as the definitive proof that his mind is cooked is weird.
