Comment on If Sodom and Gomorrah were real. How bad were they that god had to come down and smite them? Are they any comparison to today's society?

Do we assume that God is a reasonable person who only punishes people for good reason and in appropriate measure? Because the bible doesn’t quite paint that picture to me.

  If you assume that god follows reason and morals, and is as described in the bible, then he’s horrible and evil and is basically Satan but worse.
  
  So there’s not really any discussion.
