Yes, but they also need to persuade the selfish or right-wing parts of the government and population that it’s okay to do this.
Comment on Making public transport fully accessible ‘could boost UK economy by £176bn’

It would be nice to make public transport accessible just because it’s the right thing to do, not to try and extract money out of disabled people…

I think it is a significant thing that many things. I mean almost all I come across. Of accessibility spending really helps everyone. Those curbs that slope down are nice if you have a wagon or a cart or a stroller. The additional audio for lights have likely reduced a few times where people get all absent minded while crossing. There are times when you could use a little private space like changing for an interview that the handicapped stall helps a lot. I 100% want to renovate where I live for handicap compatibility like big flip light switches for many places I have lived.

To be fair, increasing GDP isn’t the same as extracting money out of people. I think the point is that removing barriers to people getting to workplaces allows the workforce to grow and economic activity to grow as a result.
That said, I doubt the numbers. There might be 2.8m disabled people, but they’re not all not working because of the one issue. I suspect many are already working. Some will be home workers like myself and some will get to work by other means. Some won’t be able to work for other reasons.
