CS job market was pretty bad before 2020, it was there along with non-health bio with poor job prospects.

Taking this too seriously for a shitpost community but the people you meet while getting a degree will get you a job (at least in CS if you graduated pre-2020)
At least half of the jobs I’ve had after graduating were referrals and I’ve given plenty of referrals back to people I know

I didn’t make any friends in college (health issues+ I was a little older), but I did my work and asked questions. Apparently that was enough for my main professor to bend over backwards for me. He basically hand delivered two internships to me along with a personal project for credit.
Even if you don’t know many people, gaining opportunities really still comes down to who you know and being decent to them.
