But that’s a modern sewing machine sitting on an ancient sewing machine (assuming its anything like the Singer table pop-up thing my Nana had when she was around).
That footpedal is the drive for the needle

Oh, maybe it’s cables and a rubber mat? …It looks like the wrought iron(ish?) foot pedal, at least.
