as someone who doesn’t play modern games (most recent i usually play are ds/3ds games), the state of 3d/cgi these days is incredible. if you had asked me to tell you if the first image you posted was from a game, I wouldn’t have been able to.

It’s definitely incredible when done right. I do think the photo mode in games cheese it a little, as I’m sure they done some fancy magic with rendering, but I still see some amazing stuff come out of modern games
