this is a human trying to put into words the abyss, the “smoke” probably doesnt indicate a fire but the gloominess of the abyss being seen and blocking the air and sun

  I didnt “make it up”, I reasoned theologically
  
  that if hell is without God, then we cannot exist in it, thus hell is the Abyss
