Wait until your girlfriend gets harassed and almost raped in the womens bathroom by a “trans woman”, then we can discuss this non-inclusivity bullshit.
TheMuffinMan@piefed.world 3 weeks ago
I’m sorry that happened to your girlfriend, but anyone is capable of rape. You seem to be fixating on the trans part because it affirms your biases.
realitaetsverlust@piefed.zip 3 weeks ago
Yes, but not anyone is normally allowed in the womens bathroom, or other “female zones”, if you will. Men don’t have anything to do in there. If you don’t pass as a woman, you shouldn’t be in there. Simple as that.
stevestevesteve@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
You ever stop to consider that maybe you don’t pass as your chosen gender to someone else? Let people use the public restrooms they want. Harassment and rape are crimes, police that all you want, but we don’t need idiots getting bent out of shape and causing confrontations in restrooms because they believe they know better than the individuals who choose to present as a gender.

there shouldnt be “female spaces” just like how there shouldnt be “male spaces”
whenever you see a “womens”/“women-only” thing, think of whether youd view it the same way if it were “mens”/“men-only”
segregation should be universally illegal
and genders are arbitrary and blurred anyway, and sexes are even more arbitrary
you cant build functional restrictions around them
also, as a nonbinary person, which bathroom do i go to
stevestevesteve@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Oh why would I need to wait for that to discuss inclusivity?
realitaetsverlust@piefed.zip 3 weeks ago
Because when you or someone close to you has been affected by it, you start to see things from another view than that ivory tower most of you live in.
stevestevesteve@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I’m affected by it in the here and now. Not by some imaginary “almost raped!!” nonsense that you’re bringing into it. You and people who think like you are the oppressors, not the oppressed.
To think that when I say “let’s use actual signage” you cry rape is fucking ludicrous. Get the fuck out of here with these obviously disingenuous arguments.

the problems id see:
it happening in a bathroom would not be that much of a detail tbh
also all my girlfriends are trans
and cis men are the demographic most likely to be rapists, so vulnerable people (anyone who isnt a cis man) should be able to stay away
so id want my girlfriends safe from them primarily because theyre a way bigger risk
and also claiming that gendered bathrooms are safe because men (or, as seems to be the more common argument, cock havers) will want to rape women (which is taken to mean pussy havers rather than ppl who would be seen as women which is what would actually get them targeted), which erases non-heterosexuals (and being bi, gay, and straight are equally common among trans people), making it an invalid “solution”
all genders (and sexes) are capable of rape, but cishet men are the most likely to do it, and a lot more of them are bi/gay than admit it, and also people might rape outside of their sexualities out of power dyamics
