Make sure you don’t cut the root, that’s where the sadness lives.
You have to cut the whole onion in half through the root to dice.
That not usually an issue though, just the one clean cut and then the exposed root is against the surface while cutting
I see. Being exposed to air is the problem, but if it stays covered it’s fine?
