Pardon my stupid, I just woke up. What is this event, what is happening, what why

No idea where you’re located, but in America there are a lot of right-wing religious wingnuts that enjoy street-corner preaching, as it were.
Most of this preaching involves carring signs with a fire-and-brimstone message and yelling about how the passers-by need to repent.
The most famous example would be the

yeah it’s common for these wackos to show up at pride events too. this appears to be one
Yeah trolling them or counterprotesting them is almost like a rite of passage in some circles. I spent way too much time doing that in college.
Ah, makes sense. Where I am from, there are neither visibly queer people nor visibly right-wing religious wingnuts.
As a visibly queer person I might be willing to make that tradeoff tbh
