Comment on Why do Brits act like if you fall into a canal, you'll likely drown? UK canals are only waist-deep. Is it an inside joke?

I don’t know about you, but if I had a family member die and the news narrative was equivalent to “fell out of a window”, I’d be upset too, and would want to know the truth.
