different species, variant implies its the same species but different genotype. hantaa virus of korea is a different species than sin nombre of the midwest, and andes virus. the first 2 are quite virulent.

The problem is the variant, its the first time a lot of these countries are being exposed to the more contagious than usual form of hantavirus that in Chile & Argentina is known as Andean Hantavirus.
Chile has a long history of dealing with this and usually takes all the necessary precautions, but add some dumbass gringos (north americans and Europeans) into the mix and they basically go into a remote area and snort lines of mouse shit and then are surprised when they caught a really bad virus.
Argentina doesnât really take any precautioms afaik.

yes, in chile they always do campaigns, is a fact of life since forever, so for me itâs quite surprising the global craze about it.
