Kinda yeah. Most politicians in the US started out as lawyers or working in some other capacity in the justice system.
Most? Hardly any.
Many US states and cities elect their chief prosecutor (DA) and sometimes even judges.
Same in Australia, most are lawyers, most as in >50%
