[that is a very safe assumption but like, 20 years ago when our sheriff retired we got him to join the homelessness board. help out from the other side. it helped influence the culture at the sheriff’s department since he would still pop in there and volunteer once a week. we’ve put in a lot of work to make our local departments be not as bastardy as we can get them. i haven’t spoken with the current county sheriff since he was a deputy, but he looked at tea partiers (what became maga) the same as sovereign citizens]
