Now that I think of it, if you mark an item as missing, Doordash asks if your bag was sealed when it arrived. It’s not a perfect system, but I guess that can help narrow down who’s at fault.

lovely_reader@lemmy.world 3 weeks agoI wonder what that kind of quick response from Uber ends up costing restaurants and drivers in the long run. There are fraudulent claims to consider, but even when real mistakes are made, Uber has no way of knowing whether the order was complete when it was picked up. Probably makes it hard for restaurants to troubleshoot if there’s been a real error, because they don’t know that driver, so they can assume the driver is at fault and move on. I wonder jf Uber takes the refund out of its own slice or punishes both the restaurant and the driver?
(This is in no way about you and your refund, I’m just interested in how the policy ultimately affects quality in restaurant delivery.)

Local version of DD works this way: they refund always the first time, but they keep track of user’s behavior. So, after a few months using the app, it’s quite obvious who is more likely to be at fault.
Some drivers actually require a code to give you your order, and that’s because they have messed up previously.
