I use Amazon prime to buy movies. Mostly because I have a fire stick and it is convenient. Also, I like having all need digital stuff in one places.
Lastly, I think prime uses the movies anywhere features when allowed by the distributor, which means I should be able to watch them with other services.

Nice. Yeah nowadays I get something on 4K UHD Blu-Ray if it's in 4K, and if not, I get it in Blu-Ray if I can.
The only case in which I'll get something on iTunes is if iTunes has it in HD and there's no Blu-Ray release yet (like 9-1-1), or there's no physical release at all (like The Carmichael Show). The vast majority of what I buy is still physical media.

Yes, I understand that well.
It’s annoying to wait for a release and it just doesn’t come. That’s what happened to me with the last season of the Battlestar Galactica release - a German TV station had the rights to it and the box set didn’t come out for years. And since then I don’t buy series anymore, only movies.
By the way… it’s amazing how often the movie industry itself has tried to ruin collecting for me. And now the UHD disc itself is already going downhill.

What's going on with the UHD disc?
Yeah what annoys me most is when there's an HD copy I can buy digitally, but no Blu-Ray release.

Sony Pictures has announced that it will stop distributing UHD/HD/DVD discs in Germany, Austria and Switzerland because streaming is becoming increasingly important. Warner Bros. is also taking a similar approach here. Source (German News Article)
I personally interpret this as the beginning of the end. I think it’s a shame because I’m a collector. I love to look at my film shelf.
