A ton of PC games do this as well.
Yeah, i assumed this was the default for pc as well. Admittedly, i dont know much about steam achievements though as my frist playthrough of a game is normally obtained… elsewhere 🏴☠️
There’s also almost always a day 1 mod to disable the disable achievements check on PC.
