Also the author is Ed Dwyer, which through looking up his name, there was an Ed Dwyer alive and writing the same time period who is responsible for creating the High Times? So possibly the same one?

Ed Dwyer. Seems he’s still alive as I cannot find an article about his death but found several regarding his positions at various publications.
