JoMiran@lemmy.ml 3 hours agoPretty Baby is a 1978 film where she portrays a child prostitute. There’s a scene where her virginity is auctioned off and a main plot point is that a grown man falls in love with her and wants to marry her. I watched it as a young teen (~12) and I was horrified.

To be clear, the film treats this as the atrocity that it is and is based on a true story.
You probably wouldn’t describe this relationship as “falling in love” if you saw it as an adult. Nothing about this relationship is portrayed as healthy.
