This comment unintentionally makes you sound very jaded lol do you not believe in true love? Wild
Centrism is not a neutral standpoint. Conservatism is a stage in fascist ideology. Fascism has originated in many cultures. It’s not a purely American phenomenon. The left right dichotomy is about capitalism. Capitalism creates and enforces different economic classes of people with different power. Socialism is, broadly speaking, the dismantling of those economic classes of power. A centrist can exist in such a situation, for instance advocating for there to be some smaller economic classes… which begs the question of why.
You either believe all people are equal and have the same right to life, or you do not believe all people are equal. Those are the ideological basis for socialism and capitalism. Capitalism does not believe all people are equal, and posits that the wealthy deserve the disproportionate wealth and power they have. Socialism does believe all people are equal, and posits that all people deserve the same resources and power. A society where everyone has the same rights and the same access.
So a centrist would by definition in this situation have to be aligned with capitalist ideology. Right? It would be something like “I do not believe all people are equal and deserve the same resources and power in society. But I do believe that the disparity between the wealthy and the poor should be smaller.”
