I like your line of reasoning. But no, we got a family dollar that’s closing down and was selling everything except beer at 80% off!
I got some frozen fish, some frozen shrimp like five frozen pizzas, a bunch of Gatorade, and one of every chocolate bar they had left.
Rang up damn near $90, I paid $16 and change.

Interbred when my family dollar became a dollar tree. I wasn’t a GM yet and they had me scheduled to work with one other person. It was madness. The line was 2 hours long and I was just letting people steal. The district manager was pissed but I was like “this is very close to being a riot and I can’t control this crowd”
They changed how they structured the closings after that.
