  nah. loam is, for example, 40% sand, 20% clay, 60 silt and it’s close to middle of that polygon

  I think it makes more sense if you view it as fractions or ratios when not directly on one of the sides.

  I.e. 50/150 sand, 20/150 clay, and 80/150 silt
