@simon_greenwood @fediversenews Talking of Mastodon, not Calckey, just for clarification.
@simon_greenwood @fediversenews Since I couldn’t get it to send anything with local sendmail, I actually set up an external Mailserver with mailbox.org, just to get over this and it sent exactly one mail, silence since. I am running out of ideas (and patience).

@choyer
That's more odd, for me, Mastodon worked out of the box with a similar configuration. That could come down to sending problems so make sure your domain/host is set up to send properly with an SPF record etc.

@choyer
Since my ISP is blocking port 25, I had to set up an email relay in Yunohost. Maybe Mailbox.org does not allow this.

@zeitverschreib @choyer @simon_greenwood @fediversenews This is common practice here for consumer circuits, block 25 and 80. In the past it was possible to re-enable this in router settings or at worst getting a Tier 2 support person to allow it. Now? No idea. I pony up for the symmetrical at home these days, and no longer have to think about it. Yes, my use case is MY use case, and it’s worth it to me. Ymmv. I hope you find a solution.

If they're blocking port 25, they are not an Internet Service Provider.

@johntimaeus
At least in Germany, that's kind of a standard.

@zeitverschreib@social.zwoelfdreifuenfundvierzig.net @johntimaeus@sysad.ninja @choyer@mastodon.social @simon_greenwood@offworld.fedisonic.cloud @fediversenews@venera.social I have seen this as well in Greece. Pretty standard procedure. Instead of port 25 usually you can use 587 the mail submission agent port.

Really? Just to keep you from running a mail server?
choyer@mastodon.social 2 years ago
@zeitverschreib @simon_greenwood @fediversenews I didn’t actually do a relay in YunoHost (although I believe Mailbox would allow it, I just put my mailbox Smtp server and mailbox address and login directly in the env.production file.
