RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 1 year agoOn top of the one we got from Celtics? This is a reality check for Darko and FO IMO. Darko’s offense isn’t working. The come back was basically transition ball and Pascal ISO ball - that’s last year’s offense.

I didn’t realize you were a Raps fan :)
I’m not surprised the Raps can’t hang with the top tier: Celtics, 76ers, Nuggets. I am more surprised that it takes miraculous comebacks for us to beat the worst teams in the league (e.g, Wizards, Spurs), as I tend to think we’re not that bad.
Yeah, we don’t have the players to execute Darko’s 0.5 offence well. Roster construction has been an issue with this team since the year after the championship (3 years now). All hope for this season seems to hinge on the hopes that the team figures out how to 1) run Darko’s offence better and 2) blend it with Pascal’s iso ball better

That is the problem I have with Darko for me. We know the talent level we have on the team. Dallas is the only game where the team looked prepared. The other games we just don’t look prepared. We aren’t good enough to beat the top 4-5 seeds in the East, but we are not bad enough to lose by 30. I like Darko’s team building approach and player development. I just don’t like his offense, his inability to game plan, make adjustments on the fly and his inability to prepare the team for each game. It is NOT looking very good right now. I am thinking part of the blame is on FO. They went out and hired all the development coaches but where are the specialists, the tacticians? I don’t know if we got any in this group of assistants.

Dallas didn’t have a (half-decent) centre, if I recall correctly. But you’re right, how large the margin of loss was versus the Celtics was rough. I agree it’s not looking good for the Raptors right now, and there’s an apparent lack of game tactics (like there was under Nick Nurse), and that it’s so frustrating. Lineups with Malachi and Gradey have been pretty effective by my eye test, and I think a good chunk of that is how much set plays make up the offense they run (like double curls/screens)
