  Sound is probably incorrect. Volume in this case relates to the “volume” of the feeling of the tags. Describing how the feeling of tags is overwhelming compared to its actual impact.

      Shirt tags are loud as shit and it sounds painful at the base of my skull.

      Sound is the correct sense.
