They make good eating with garlic butter. In Europe I used to buy frozen dozens of them with the garlic butter already added. In a funky aluminium tray with 12 dints in it ready for the oven.

I move them over to the long grass near the compost and just make the garden unattractive to them

Unforch the long grass is right next to the tiny area I have for my pots. I donât use poisons so chalk, eggshells, beer and the like would frequently be rained away and require constant replenishment
This is why I didnât deliberately plant again

Copper tape.
Seriously, copper tape. It forms a tiiiny little electric fence. You can also cut rings out of old pots, line them and make mobile fences
