Agreed. I’m listening to the album right now, and so far I’m not really meshing with it. I miss his signature guitars and drums too. I feel like his older music was more ‘eventful’ if you catch my drift. E.g. the different parts of Let It Happen.

I don’t dislike the album as much as the new Taylor Swift one though!
