A new guy is being introduced around Los Alamos. He’s a physicist from some small college. Everyone he meets is way more famous than he is. When he gets to his rooms the corporal who has been escorting his asks if he’s intimidated to be around so many people who are smarter than him.
He says that he’s happy, because for the first time in years he’s not the smartest guy in the room.

Ah I wasn’t talking about being smartest or anything.
Generally I am able mask my anxiety and get along well with my coworkers when at work. But at the party almost all of them were dancing and I was standing in the corner as usual. Got hit by the feeling of alienation. 😶

You’re the only one who cares if you danced or not.
You can stand by the wall and spend the next day remembering how terrible you felt, or you can dance. You could ask one of the good dancers to show you some moves; they’ll be flattered and you might actually enjoy the party.
