Groceries and food in general is so much cheaper over seas. I was shocked at how much we’re getting screwed when I came back from Europe. My prices easily doubled, more probably. It’s pure corporate greed here.

Groceries really more expensive in US?
Just recently ordered in general? I was under the impression that they got bulk goods at cheaper rates

They all got hit hard by tariffs, but even before tariffs kicked in, there was no actual reason for the price of eggs to remain where they are, 2025 egg production in US is at record highs. The temporary dip due too the flu cull was relieved in 9 weeks. Americans just take shit.
Like why are bananas tariffed? To bring back US Banana factory jobs?

Grocery store consolidation towards major chains, capitalism, covid-driven price hikes that stayed, tariff-related price hikes, or price hikes that just use tariffs as an excuse have led to rocketing grocery prices here. It is hard to measure since I don’t track every item historically, but on the whole I’ve seen 200%-300% price increases on some items and probably a 150-200% general increase to my total grocery bill overall.
