shalafi@lemmy.world 6 days agoWhy would Israel take him out so publicly if not to send a message? You kinda have to claim responsibility to get the message out. Why would the court American outrage in case of revaluation? We’ll pay for their genocide, but murdering an American citizen on American soil would be explosive.
I’d sooner believe the American government did it to get a matyr, a modern Horst Wessel. And that would be ridiculous.
You don’t need to claim it to send a message.
For example look at Russia. If you see a defenestration in Russia or a radioactive-metal poisoning on Europe, you know it was the Russian government. They can say it wasn’t them and still send the message.
I’m not saying this is such case though.

Because Kirk was the next Trump. And he had changed his view on the genocide.
He was very influential among a key demographic that is already testy on supporting Israel.
Moreover, the people who need to know, know. The plebs don’t need to know about this. Plus it already has a public function: demonising the left.
Same with the Epstein files. Patel and Bondi are brought in - grossly under qualified, then shown that “you touch this, you die”, and so they walk the line. In the power circles like the disney and abc boards they know how this works too, which is why they preemptively fall in line with fascism rather than fight it.
