Went to a petting zoo and food stalls up at Marnong Estate in the north this morning. It was a great spot and worth going to even if you donât get tickets to the petting zoo which sell out quickly.
The only problems for us was it was windy and one of the boys was getting scared of the wind, and there wasnât really food that was easy for little kids to eat. Gyros lamb rolls and burgers are good, but little hands and developing fine motor skills canât really get their heads around burgers without there being a massive mess.
That said, food was surprisingly cheap. $10 for a burger and you got a $10 for each paid petting zoo ticket so it could almost be a free lunch

Sounds like they need to add nuggies to the menu

Yeah, they had the classic chips and tendies but they were only for some sports club doing awards at the same time. Massive oversight for such a family event. I would have bought two so the boys could have an easy feed

Yeah. Mini sausage rolls, little red sausages, fish fingers, maybe even a steamed dimmy⌠all of that would work but chips and nuggets are probably the easiest most universal option

When you expect people to bring a picnic rug and sit on the ground it helps if kids can eat with their hands. I saw all these tiny kids trying to eat burgers, nowhere was serving hot chips
